Okay plan 2.0

So, I was hunted down by an adviser yesterday - she came to my class - who told me that I am on the watch list because I have so many units and that I will probably be hearing from the dean soon.

So I am going to graduate this year and apply for a Masters in Comp Sci for next year.

Various Things

I am getting back into programming again - gonna learn Objective-C and Cocoa and hopefully get in on the cash cow that is apps for the iPhone. I met two guys with ideas that were paying a guy $500 to code a very simple app and I said hay, I'll do it for free if you give me a third of the profits. Unfortunately I need to upgrade my OS X to Leopard which is a bit of a hassle - sometimes things break so I need to make sure everything with Moments is done before I do that. But that gives me time to read some books. Hopefully I can make a few good programs over the summer that bring in a decent amount of money each month - Apple gives the developers 70% of each sale, so if I make a few programs that collectively are downloaded 1000 times a month at 99 cents, that's effectively $230 additional dollars a month which I can just put into savings.

Dad kicked me off easy street and ended my cell phone bill. Not mad at all about it, I'm very grateful for him paying it for so long and he is still paying my car insurance for now which is very helpful. I switched to T-Mobile since that is my girlfriend's network and I use most of my minutes with her. Since it looks like she will be moving to Thousand Oaks next semester for an unknown period of time that's a good thing. Also T-Mobile is the cheapest which is also aces. Having a SIM card is nice too; no more losing all my contacts and messages because my phone took a dive.

Also a $130 credit for switching from Verizon is nice too.

I filed the paperwork to become a Physics and CTVA double major. All my friends seem a bit upset about it and feel like I'm selling out, but the hard facts are that I enjoy math and science, and I get bored very easily. If I had to work in the film industry I would probably hate it and not want to make my own films. I have grown weary of senior films and I have worked on very few of them, so that does not bode well for working on other people's projects.

I feel like I messed up a bit since I am basically starting from scratch (the pre-reqs make it take 4 years without enough units to stay fulltime), but the nice thing is that I'll have only Physics classes to devote my time to, so that's good. Financial aid will be a problem, but even if I borrowed ALL of the money necessary I'd only owe 16,000 dollars which I could pay off in a year of good work.
